We Beat Kotaku.com to the Punch!

Even though this blog has been in a Limbo state since March, I thought it should be noted that we broke this story way back on March 4th. I guess we all know who had the scoop on this one…

Good-Bye BC, Hello FC

X-Box 360 CPU

One of GameisOver.net’s inside sources has informed us that Microsoft is hard at work on the X-box 360 successor. (Which doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out) But here is the interesting thing: The next console is rumored to contain a combination central and graphic processing unit. The big rumor though at this point is that they are working on a way to make next generation Xbox games playable on the current 360, forward compatibility (FC) so to speak. Based on this information, the way we here at GameisOver.net see it is very similar to what we saw with those Burger King games for the 360. You have a game that is playable on the older hardware but for enhanced graphics and other features it should be played on the newest system. Its a very interesting concept and is actually pretty similar to the philosophy taken by HD-DVD titles that were released on the combo format, owners without the newest hardware can still invest and view in the newest “software”. It’ll be interesting to see how this all pans out. Keep it locked here for more info.

Fighting with History

X-Joybox
Over the last few weeks I have remembered how much I love fighting games. I have since picked up copies of Capcom vs. SNK 2, King of Fighters: Neowave, King of Fighters 2002/2003, & Street Fighter Anthology all for the X-Box. While some of these titles are BC some are not. So it gave me a good reason to bust out my original X-Box and go to town. I quickly realized that the X-Box S Controller isn’t the best thing in the world for fighting games however its D-pad is far better then that of the 360 Controller D-pad. Either way, I was still having difficulties pulling off the moves that I usually pulled off with great ease. I decided I’d try out one of those controller adapters for the X-Box that allows you to use a Playstation Controller on the X-Box.
